GET TO KNOW ME <\/h3>

\nMy name is Casey Yi, and I am a high school student from Austin, Texas. I am a varsity lacrosse player, choral singer, and Broadway lover, who is known to carry a book (or three) in her backpack. \n\nI've always been interested in politics, different cultures, and current events, so listening to the podcast \"The Daily\" is a part of my daily routine. My first sleep-away summer camp was a Model United Nations conference at Boston University, where I passionately got into character representing Kazhakstan. I am also an avid traveler with an ever-growing list of places I would love to visit. \n\nI am looking forward to using this blog as a way to grow my knowledge of politics and cuisines around the globe.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

WHY I CREATED POLITICS FOR DINNER<\/h3>

I created Politics for Dinner for many different reasons: to dive deeper into global politics and international relations, to explore different cultures and cuisines, to teach myself to cook and to get more comfortable with writing. With the ever-changing political landscape, I felt the need to continue educating myself on the politics of other countries. In my opinion, to get a better understanding of global politics, it is necessary to learn about the people behind the politics, and what better way to do this than through cuisine, dishes, and recipes? Watching my mom create Korean and German fusion dishes inspired me to take a closer look at a political conflict and create a fusion dish out of the regions involved. Although the political conflict might not be able to be solved, maybe I'll be able to make some sort of peace with my dish in the kitchen.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

MY VISION FOR POLITICS FOR DINNER<\/h3>

I hope this project will not just be a way for me to learn, but also for others to explore different regions of the world. \n\n I envision\n\n1. getting others involved by suggesting recipes and regions to look into \n\n2. having conversations with people in areas that I am researching (social media, emails, etc.)\n\n3. partnering with local restaurant owners to spread awareness of global cuisines\n\n4. regular dinner meetings with everyone who is interested in trying new cuisines and learning about current events in the region it came from.\n\nOverall, I want to learn a lot, have a good time, and eat some great food!\n\n<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
